Any tricks connecting axtime to a Race America 6860 scoreboard? Helping another club get setup on axtime. Their 6860 work with axware, but so far I'm not having luck getting it to work with axtime.

How does it connect? Does it use a DB9 connector? My display is wireless and comes up as a separate COM port. I had to install some specific software to build a COM port network in the PC so it behaves like a splitter.
I am pretty sure that's the same model that my club has, however the label is rubbed off and so I can't tell. It is a 68x0 display.
There's some DIP switches on the back of the display, go download the manual and make sure they're setup properly. (Though, if it's working with Axware it should be fine.)

Unless something has changed in the off-season, AXti.me is only configurable to use the same COM port that it uses for the timer to also interface to external displays. I have had good luck using one of these with our Farmtek timer:

Since someone had misplaced the DB-9 serial cable that came with our RA display (we were running it plugged into an AXWRATS timer via RJ-45), I also picked up one of these and made an adapter so that a long ethernet patch cable could be used to connect the display:

No dip switch settings on the display were altered from what worked in AXware, and we went back-and-forth between AXti.me and AXware all last season since we still needed to use AXware for Rallycross events.....

Our display is wireless but it has a wired option - but either way, the important point is that the scoreboard gets its feed directly from the timing console, not AXti.me at all.

I just ended up loaning them my wireless farmtek scoreboard ... which they really liked.
Yes, their RA6860 has a serial input. For axware they had usb > serial > rj45 > serial setup. They used a reel of cat5 for long distance.
@vreihen I'll check out that splitter. Thanks!

We use one COM port for both timing hardware and display board 6860. We made a custom CAT5 Y-cable for this purpose. One RS232 cable splits into two CAT5 cables. I could give you the pinouts we used, but it's dependent on what timing hardware you use. We have the RA wireless Tlinks.
One helpful note - if your RA board is wigging out, try exercising the DIP switches. We never move the DIP switches because it only causes trouble (and everyone's been told "don't touch the DIP switches") but lately we had hardware issues and ... long story short, exercising them back and forth a few times and back to original positions cured everything.

I'm using that same RS232 splitter for my setup, since I have one wired RA display. I found it at the local MicroCenter, which seems to be the only store left for buying 40 year old archaic computer hardware, and Arduinos. :)
